Tapas, coming from a family of 7 with an income of Rs. 400 (less than $10 a month), has taught literacy to villagers including his own father. At home, he teaches her own sister in Class IV. In the village, he cleans village gym once a year. Tapas wants to be a teacher, and is determined to work in removing village superstitions like witchcraft and wasting habits like drinking. His hobbies are planting trees, reading, playing football and cricket.
