Subrata comes from a family of 5 with an income of Rs. 1000 (less than $25 a month), where his father runs a road-side tea-stall and mother cooks mid-day meals in a primary school. He obtained a score of 82% in the last annual exam. He participates in sports meets, cultural programmes, sit-and-draw competitions and wall-magazine competitions. Subrata's hobbies are reading books, listening to music, sports and games and drawing. He wants to serve his motherland by becoming an engineer.
