Laxmi comes from a family of 4 with an income of Rs. 1350 (less than $34 a month), where father is a day-laborer. Besides her excellent academic records, she has won first prize in recitation, and particpates in a number social and community programmes such as Mass-awareness programme for Stop-using-pesticides and Tree-plantation. She helps her mother in the household chores. When she grows up, Laxmi wants to be a teacher.
