Questions raised: Do we want to extend ourselves?

Should there be expansion of study homes?

Should more vocational centers be started?

Should we open more computer centers since too many vocational

Schools already exist in India?

1. Meeting with new volunteers:

- Meeting to be held with new volunteers who helped at the 30^th. May, 2008,

- Need to set a date with the American and propose their involvement/commitment with Lily.

- Suggested: Meetings to be held at a restaurant once a

- month, on Thursdays, at 6:45 p.m.

- Suggestions for restaurants: 1) La Madelaine

- 2) Flavors in Addison

- 3) Individual’s home

2. Tarrant County:

Commitment to raise a small amount of money, for about 10 kids ($25/- per kid). Have it matched by a major company.

Approach our Amercan donors to sponsor four computers to be awarded to meritorious and deserving students of DISD.

3. Appreciation/Award Luncheon:

• Hold an appreciation lunch exclusively for major donors

o Hold a dinner for all other Lily donors at Bombay Sizzler for $20/- per ticket (adults), $8/-.(kids)

o Date to be confirmed with Bombay Sizzler

o Agenda at the Dinner:

o President’s speech

o Lunch

o Slide show of Lily Foundation

o Suggested date for Appreciation Dinner: 7^th. September

§ Invitation cards to be made and posted.

§ Time: 1:00 p.m

§ Fliers, Appeal, and Annual Report to be send out as soon as possible.

- India Status:

1). Balurghat Library:

· To be held at J. Ghosh’s house (Charu Villa)

· Rent: Free

· Used for library: 2 days a week

· This would essentially be a Book Bank

· Books can be checked out for a year

· Books should be renewed every 3 to 4 months

· Rs.20, 000/- to be invested on books

· Biplab (area coordinator, LI) to run it

· A person to be designated to overlook the library

· Suggested to be paid Rs.200/- to Rs.300/- per month

· Students to pay $10/- per month

We need to propose that a certain amount of money come from the local team proposing this project and the rest from Lily. Lily India to send us final proposal in dollars and cents

5. Ghatshila Computer Center:

§ Started in 2007

§ The school has requested us to continue with our support for another 2 years

§ Need a more detailed proposal on salary cost, and about them agreeing to share the cost with us

§ We need to decide on what percent we support, 60/40, 35/65, etc

§ Lily America has agreed on 2 years extension

§ Total obligation from our side: $1000/- to $1200/-

§ School needs to collect money from students (Rs.20/- per month) for classes X, XI and XII

§ Computers need to be updated

- India Project:

- Suggestions made for 2009:

§ Add more vocational centers for women. However, too many vocational

§ Centers already exist in India

§ Cost per person much higher in Vocational Centers

§ On the other hand, setting up more Computer Centers might be better,

§ 40 to 50 percent students learning computers end up in college

§ Lily Dallas to have conference call with India once a month

- 2009 – Budget Goals:

§ Current Budget: $65,000

§ Raised: approx. $44,000, with some expenses

§ Expected to raise: another $15,000/-
