General

 

Needy High School students will be awarded scholarships to encourage completion of high school with better grades.

 

Goals

 

  1. Break the poverty cycle of disadvantaged families
  2. Produce motivated students who will carry the legacy of the value of charity through generations

Procedure

 

Eligibility

 

All High School students from any govt. recognized institutions in India are eligible to apply. Students from other neighboring countries, such as Bangladesh and Nepal are also eligible if endorsed by a current member of the foundation.

 

Application

 

Applications will be made in the prescribed forms (available from the website) in hard copies with all requirements as prescribed in the form submitted. Some such requirements are last annual exam transcript, student photo and supporting documents as evidences of financial need.

 

Selection Criteria

 

  1. The student’s rank in the class, which should be in the top 50%
  2. The student’s family income (after aggregating all incomes of the family members), which should be substantially low considering the family obligations and other limitations, such as high number of family members or uncertainty in the flow of income
  3. The student’s extra-curricular and leadership activities inside and outside the school
  4. No consideration given to the caste, creed, religious faith or sex of the student

 

 

 

Award

 

  1. The amount of scholarship per month will be Indian Rupees 500 per month, directly payable to the student/guardian or the mentor in monthly or quarterly checks, cash or bank transfers.
  2. The student will be sent a congratulatory letter with his responsibilities and obligations clearly outlined, along with a certificate of award.
  3. A mentor will be assigned to the student, who will be responsible for a general monitoring of the student’s activities. He will only communicate with the foundation if any unexpected behavior is noticed.

 

Continuity

 

The scholarship will be continued to the next high school year upon verification that the grades obtained in the final exam is better than or at least equal to the grades obtained the year before In case of those students who score 65% or Grade A or higher, this condition is waived. If the transcript of the annual final exam is not received by April, then the award will automatically be discontinued.

 

The award may be discontinued at anytime at the discretion of the board if there is sufficient reason to warrant that.
